All our drums are made by Guinean and Senegalese craftsmen, who we've built up a relationship with over the years. The drum shells are made from seasoned, dead wood, either wild mango or lenge, thus minimally protecting the rapidly depleting forests of our world. The shells are carved to give optimum sound, then palm oil is applied to the wood to help it breathe. Goat skins are used for Djembes, cowskin, for Doundouns, goat or lizard skin for Tama.
